Victor Gaviria the Colombian director of “La Vendedora de Rosas” the movie that was released in 1998 made it to the Cannes Film festival. It is about a young girl who lives in glue-sniffing squalor in the savage streets of Medellin, the murder capital of the world. Barrio Triste became well know abroad.
