A Moabi tree is much thought after both by logging companies and by Pygmy hunter gathers the former for its hard dark wood and high market price the latter for its subsistence as the fruit of the Moabi is rich in oil that is pressed from the nut. Gabon’s government has decided in January 2009 to prohibit its harvest for 25 years.
