The town of San Francisco was for many years in the hands of the Carlos Alirio Buitrago ELN front and has suffered greatly at the hands of the paramilitary and the armys anti insurgency methods devised to recapture it. Evidence of this are the many NN (no name) marked graves belonging to people killed and dumped at the local morgue.
