Ofelia de Jesus, has been a witness to the “Miners of the River Nare Massacre” that occurred in 1988. She saw the day previous to the massacre the 12th of June 1998 the heavy and unseen presence of the army and witnessed how ten miners were handcuffed and abducted by soldiers that she recognized in civilian clothing. 14 possibly 15 people were killed.
